چکیده

We introduce Colored Resource Allocation Games as a new model for selfish routing and wavelength assignment in multifiber all-optical networks. Colored Resource Allocation Games are a generalization of congestion and bottleneck games where players have their strategies in multiple copies (colors). We focus on two main subclasses of these games depending on the player cost: in Colored Congestion Games the player cost is the sum of latencies of the resources allocated to the player, while in Colored Bottleneck Games the player cost is the maximum of these latencies. We investigate the pure price of anarchy for three different social cost functions and prove tight bounds for each separate case. Our bounds for the two standard social cost functions (maximum and average player cost) generalize earlier results. The third social cost function is particularly meaningful in the setting of multifiber all-optical networks, where it captures the objective of fiber cost minimization.

A Compromise Stable Extension of Bankruptcy Games: Multipurpose Resource Allocation

This paper considers situations characterized by a common-pool resource, which needs to be divided among agents. Each of the agents has some claim on this pool and an individual reward function for assigned resources. This paper analyzes not only the problem of maximizing the total joint reward, but also the allocation of these rewards among the agents. Analyzing these situations a new class of...

Modeling and Performance Analysis of Collaborative Workflow System Based on Extended Colored Stochastic Petri Nets ⋆

Based on the Extended Colored Stochastic Petri Nets (ECSPN), the workflow system was modeled and simulated. To improve described capacity of the traditional Petri nets, a model of the extended colored stochastic Petri nets is proposed, and then an instance is given to explain how to model workflow system with priority queuing and multi-instances. Through analysis of the simulation data of the m...

Dynamic Resource Allocation Games

In resource allocation games, selfish players share resources that are needed in order to fulfill their objectives. The cost of using a resource depends on the load on it. In the traditional setting, the players make their choices concurrently and in one-shot. That is, a strategy for a player is a subset of the resources. We introduce and study dynamic resource allocation games. In this setting...

The Worst-Case Efficiency of Cost Sharing Methods in Resource Allocation Games

Resource allocation problems play a key role in many applications, including traffic networks, telecommunication networks and economics. In most applications, the allocation of resources is determined by a finite number of independent players, each optimizing an individual objective function. An important question in all these applications is the degree of suboptimality caused by selfish resour...

ارزیابی سیاست‌های زمان‌بندی در نسل چهارم شبکه‌های سلولی (LTE)

New generation of wireless networks, LTE and WiMAX, supports many services which consume a lot of resources (such as VOIP, Video Conference, Digital Video, Multimedia streams and online Multi-player Games). Supporting multi-media services in wireless communication systems provide new resource allocation challenges. Because of high loads in downlink, efficient resource allocation is vital in dow...
